Garage Epoxy flooring

When is comes to garage floor coatings,  100% solids epoxy is generally only available commercially; so it could be very difficult for the average homeowner to come by. Installing those types of coatings takes precision, accuracy, and lots of experience, but the results are definitely worth it.

Why epoxy?

What’s the big deal about having an epoxy floor coating? Most garage floors are just plain, simple gray concrete. Eventually garage floors become stained from grease, oils, and chemicals, turning that smooth concrete into an ugly eyesore. Transforming that plain old concrete floor to an epoxy garage floor coating will give you years of service, durability and high stain resistance, and will enhance your home for years and increase your property value. While there are many different types of floor coatings, epoxy floor coating is widely used on residential garages, basement floors, floors of large industrial facilities, and can also be used in office facilities.

What is epoxy?

Epoxy is made from two different liquid polymers that change into a solid when mixed together in the correct amounts, causing a chemical reaction which changes the liquid polymers into epoxy. Epoxy is made of two components; the resin component, which is light, odor-free and colorless, and the hardener component, which is usually dark in color and has a strong odor. Epoxy is chemically resistant to almost any form of decay, is mechanically tough, and highly adhesive to the surface with which it bonds. Through this chemical reaction the epoxy becomes very heat resistant and is also an extremely good insulator for any kind of electrical purposes.

Are there advantages to epoxy?

Epoxy floor coatings are very reliable and durable in all kinds of environments. The resin mixture can be adjusted to meet the required hardness or elasticity needs of your personal garage or facility. And color can be added to the mixture to create a completely custom style and color for your floor. Using epoxy floor coating, you will achieve a highly durable, long-lasting flooring that is unique and looks great.

All epoxy garage floor coatings can be easily cleaned with mild, liquid detergents, hosed down or dust mopped. Now that the floor is protected, grease, oils, and most chemicals will not stain or mark the floor at all.
The aesthetic, durable epoxy garage flooring has three times the strength and chemical resistance of the typical concrete floor epoxy. The bond between the polyaspartic finish and the concrete floor should prevent any problems with cracking and peeling.
