Handyguys Address Smoke Alarms Working at the Wrong Time

Our good friends Paul and Brian over at the Handyguys Podcast recently talked about how to deal with a smoke detector that is sounding the alarm when there is no smoke. If there is in fact no smoke or fire my solution to this situation would most likely be removing the battery. Of course that is not the most appropriate response as it is important to keep working smoke detectors in every area of your home. So what is one to do when that siren goes off? Watch the video below to find out.

And there you have it! A bit of dust could be the culprit for a malfunctioning smoke detector. That’s actually a pretty easy fix to the problem and one I would have never thought of. Paul’s idea for an integrated smoke detector system is one that I can definitely get behind. With all the advances in modern technology why can’t homeowners have a smoke alarm command center to tell them when the batteries are low or which alarm is actually going off?

Have you ever experienced this problem? Do you know of any other things that could cause a smoke detector to randomly go off? Tell us about your experiences in the comments below.
